It should have been a seagull!
What a disappointing day!
Work was fine and kept me busy so much so that I was seeing stars by the end of it. It was neatly split between writing some documentation I'd been putting off for a while, Sys Admin and would you believe doing another tidy up before I disappear from work for another week. Nothing wild to report there anyway.
It was another stuffy, grey day down here in Brum. Whoever would have thought I'd be throwing open the windows and stripping off in October? Well, I wasn't stripping off exactly. I was merely getting into lighter clothes!
In the summer when I used to walk down the canal sometimes after work, I started noticing the occasional seagull walking along the canal too. I thought I was seeing things at first but soon realised that seagulls were moving in! Imagine my delight when I heard that familiar 'Caw caw!' sound I usually only associated with my trips to Ayr or Edinburgh. I glanced out of my front room window over the top of my laptop screen and was thrilled to see a gigantic seagull settling on the roof of Mustang Chainsaw Massacre Man's house who lives directly opposite. I leapt up, snatched my camera off the table and tried to get up the stairs as quickly as possible. I tripped over the ends of my loose jeans halfway up and bashed my left knee and right elbow. Marvellous! I carried on up the stairs cursing a bit getting to my bedroom window just in time to see that dratted seagull taking off and flying in the direction of the park.
So much for that! I'd developed a hole in the elbow of my favourite ancient green top too which mom has always been telling me to throw out as it looks so old and knackered. Hmmmmm. On a Friday at the end of a long week I knew just how it felt.
Anyway, my old top has now been consigned to the dustbin. Sob!
The hungry squirrel was my only visitor this afternoon and he will have to do for today. It wasn't a total disappointment of a day, despite wrecking my favourite green top and missing a seagull. The deep autumn colours of the foliage at this time of year are always a joy to see. I never cease to be surprised by certain things in life. Even rainy days can be full of smiles!
