Historians

Each of us, in our own way, are historians. We save what we think will matter. Things that will matter to us later, when we need to remember. Things that will matter to future generations. Things that will matter to collectors. There is something, even if it's the smallest of things, that we want to see again, or to pass on.

In the Mother Comfort Collection, there were two events in history that she felt mattered enough to save multiple newspaper articles and, in this case, entire newspapers. One was the New Carissa, and the other was the attacks on September 11, of the World Trade Center.

Almost everything else she collected represented something she could draw, paint or turn into some form of art, or cats. She studied cat breeding carefully and saved everything related to it.

I find it difficult to dispose of the newspapers. Silly, really.
