Papal Guard
I know he thinks he has a proper job but lets face it.........he's just there for thousands of people to take his photograph every day.
So day 2 consisted of taking the Metro (so cheap by comparison to London) to the vatican. We had been warned that the queues would be enormous in the morning so we wandered around St Peters square for a while, sat in a pavement cafe for a coffee, bought a few souvenires and by the time we got back to the vatican museum there was no queue at all. Well worth a visit!
Dinner was in a lovely restaurant within sight of the Coloseum with a lovely waiter called Valter who sang a lot and did a very passable impression of the Churchill Insurance dog... 'Oh yes'.
3 bottles of wine were consumed tonight!
