How is the weather?

Well, the day started with rain and finished with rain but the bits in between were pleasant and springlike. I didn't wake up properly until gone 8:30 which is quite incredible for me. I don't sleep well even under an anaesthetic, usually waking moaning about an achy back while they are doing a blanket stitch or something....

Anyway, once I had dragged myself downstairs and spent half an hour getting my hair to stop giving me a startled cow with handlebars expression after spending too long talking on the phone with a towel turban round my head after a shower, I was ready to face the world. My hair doesn't like London water and I probably electrocuted lots of people unknowingly this previous week.

I wasn't feeling very lively but headed for Stratford upon Avon for a wander around the annual Mop Fair. Years ago, people seeking employment would line up carrying the tools of their trade, mops and shovels etc hoping someone would hire them. I could have stood there with a computer keyboard and broomstick I suppose, but they don't do that anymore. The streets are now filled with noisy floats and burger stalls with fairground rides for the brave. It was all very lively and strangely kept the pubs quite empty so my usual Abbot Ale and chips in the Garrick Inn were enjoyed as usual.

I'd have liked to get a picture of terrified faces on this puke-inducing ride but dangling legs is the best I could get on the darkening day.

Track? I love this one from The Turtles which was blasting out from one of the vans. My title 'How is the weather?' comes from towards the end of this seemingly joyful song. Sadly, 'Happy together' refers to what things would be like if the writer got what he wanted but the song is about unrequited love and he has to revert to mundane chat about the weather etc. rather than not speak to his love at all. Sigh! Ho hum - Happy Together
