jeni and the beans

Dark

What a day. Started around 2.30am with Bear being sick in the carseat, half an hour from our destination. 3.30am finally "home", cleaned up, in bed.
9am: up, struggled, cleaned up, out for breakfast at Libby and Julian's where the boys played happily with their friends and we drank coffee and ate pancakes. And then Steve and Julian set to work trying to get the car window back up so it wouldn't be as noisy at the very least on the way home this evening.

The men fixed, the kids played, the women chatted... everyone in good spirits!

But by 2pm we were all hungry again and the car door was still in pieces....

By 3pm however the car window was up, and the door was back together again. Held together (literally) with gaffer tape, string, and sticky-backed plastic. But we had all made it out to a pub for lunch and spent a happy hour eating and chatting and letting the kids play :)

A quick stop at a couple of shops on the way home, Bean got to chat to another friend Isaiah on the phone while we waited for Daddy, and then Steve and the boys went round to see Zachary (and Di and Tammy) while I attempted to gather more bits from the house that we needed to take back with us.

And then eventually we set off to our "home" in the north. Happy boys munching on the snacks I'd got from the shop, Bear singing his heart out, Bean lasted maybe half an hour before he was snoring (he then slept the entire way and didn't wake once). Stopped a few times to change drivers, respite, and to feed Bear, but all in all thank goodness an uneventful journey home again.

This photo from Oxford Services on the M40. I think. Possibly. It rained. I stayed in the car. Steve went and bought coffee, I had a flat white - not convinced, I think I'll stick with black or lattes!
