A bird in hand ...

It was my bird group day today, and we were meeting at Kilnsea/Spurn. There have been all sorts of interesting birds arriving so I was really looking forward to it!

I knew there had been sightings of great grey shrikes recently so I was determined to get a photo - and I did! I'm so pleased! It took a fair bit of tracking down.

I got better photos of the jacksnipe and a male black redstart.

And I also saw some siskins.

*Edit* I forgot to mention my blip is a redpoll!

And here's the bird in hand of my title - a hawfinch waiting to be ringed.


It was a fab day :)

It's just a shame mum's getting dottier - she's refusing to sleep in her own bedroom at the moment ..
