A new bridge and a sea of mud
Today, the Mayor of Abergavenny opened the new bridge in the Castle Meadows across the River Gavenny, just before it flows into the River Usk. It is not everyday you see a mayor wearing wellies! And very necessary it was too. We've had a few days of rain, and before that the contractors were churning up the site with their machinery, or "plant" as they like to call it.
But now, or at least when the mud becomes passable, folk can walk the full length of the meadows again - after the old bridge became dangerous about five years ago.
