Something the Australians know how to do really well is cater for families. They really do. And Kings Park is one amazing example of that. It's huge. Its literally right in the middle of the city, and its incredible. And free. Absolutely gigantic and full of so much. Today we went to Sticky Beaks - the biggest play area part of the park. Pirate ships, slides, swings, sand pits, climbing frames and all under the Aussie-usual of massive sails to protect the kids from the sun. Water fountains everywhere, so much for them to do. They had a ball. Ice creams and drinks at sensible prices.
The second part of the day was a visit to Naturscape. This is one of the most fantastic kids places I have been to. And its completely free. Its a managed bushland, a huge one, where the children are free to explore, build, climb, play and have a glorious time. We splashed in the river, we built dens, we collected gum nuts, we climbed rocks, we built dams in the water. It was fantastic fun. Yet again, the children came home filthy but so full of it after a brilliant day.
