Hunger Games

Jnr Snr has been reading The Hunger Games avidly over the last couple of weeks (even during Sheffield United home games, don't blame her for that!) and I surprised her with the DVD the evening. My kudos points went up immediately.

I waited until we'd nipped down for a Friday Night End-of-Term Takeaway Pizza and started it the moment we sat down in front of the TV Friday Night End-of-Term style. I had finished my pizza within the first 10 mins and so it was more The I Ate Too Much Too Fast Games for me.

Being a bloke, I had never really appreciated the real importance of female role models whilst growing up, but having the girls has changed my perceptions in so many ways. It is so clear how important they are to them both, and I am very passionate about ensuring they are influenced by the more admirable ones than the plethora of media-driven, commercial, vacuous, shit ones that are out there.

Katniss has really hit a chord in her; so I have now dusted off my copy of Series One of Buffy to continue her development ;)
