The Boys

In Brooklyn, during the summers, we spent a lot of time grilling with our friends. The two main locations for this were in our backyard and on Gords' front stoop. There was a big difference in feel and style between backyard and front stoop grillin'. The front stoop is so "Brooklyn". People walk by, dogs walk by, you people watch, sometimes you talk to people, and you see crazy things. People are amused at a bunch of kids sitting out on the sidewalk grilling and drinking some beers. It's a lot of fun. I think this may be the only time I ever photographed one of our front-stoop-grillages and I love these photographs for their iconic depiction of our life in Brooklyn circa 2004.

Mr. Apple was wearing his famed, now-retired, shirt "Whales". Stefan was dressed like Richard Petty. And Gords was smoking away and working on his white-trash-motorcycle-habits years in advance.
