The most important task of the day was to get flowerpots for some poor little plants that have stood in their small, temporary plastic homes for far too long.

So off we went to the flowerpottery in the gorgeous sunshine, having planned to go off to Castle Ashby afterwards to take some pics.

The trouble with buying flowerpots is the choice, the weight, and the fact you have to fill them with dirt. Choosing flowerpots is as difficult as choosing the right blip to publish, but after only a couple of hours the choice was made. This did however entail moving pots about, with the ones that looked promising right at the back necessitating moving every single pot in front out of the way. Needless to say, the promise was never fulfilled.
The compost we bought was a nice natural organic type.

It transpired that Castle Ashby, which is normally quiet and desolate, was thronging with people enjoying the annual fete, which had all the traditional fete type stalls, but with the added attraction of a doggie assault course. This was basically a timed run, where dog owners had to drag their reluctant pooches around and over a series of obstacles without embarassing themselves or injuring the dogs. During the "obedience" section where the dogs had to sit, many of them scarpered into the crowd.

When we got back to the car after a couple of hours, the purchase of organic compost proved itself to be a serious mistake. The pong was AWFUL.

We drove home with the windows wide open and clothes-pegs on our noses, and with my back killing me.
