Bear-in-waiting
I was late home tonight from work. Very late. In fact it was chiming seven as I put my key in the lock. I'd had a long and difficult day, but there was a bear-in-waiting!
There was Eric, his face peering expectantly through the porch window, welcoming me with a smile and a bear-hug, as only he can. There were no questions, no reprimands about the lateness of the hour, just a warm and loving welcome.
He's a very caring bear, but he's been taught well. For as well as my bear-in-waiting, I found my wonderful husband. He too embraced me, listened comfortingly as I recounted a challenging day, ran me a bath and brought me a cup of tea. He followed this with a deliciously cooked, wholesome meal and fruity pudding.
The day at work is albeit forgotton and the soft landing was gratefully appreciated. Thank you Eric and G. x
