Deserting the Isles

Today is a sad day. Tomorrow we leave the islands for six weeks. The eight weeks we have been here have flown by. I can't say what we have done each day, but time has not been hanging heavily on our hands.
That is assuming we leave - currently the boat we are due to sail on is amber-listed - it might not sail or it might be disrupted generally. If it does go, we will be on the first sailing of a new service from Lochboisdale to Mallaig.
It was due to start on Tuesday but both crossings then were cancelled because of the weather. Probably a wise decision as, like the Titanic, it would be a little embarrassing to sink on the maiden voyage!
Unlike those who deserted the ruined croft above we will be back. We shall look forward to returning early in January. But that said we also look forward to catching up with friends and getting to know South Dartmoor a lot better.
