One of those days
I'm back dating my entries this week, I've been really busy.
On Monday Kanyes senco (special education needs Co ordinator) at school came to me and said 'just so you know we're going to be discussing Kanyes future at St Albans tomorrow'
Tuesday we were having his iep (individualised education programme) meeting where we discuss what goals to work on next with his therapist's and teachers. Only when we got to the meeting it was clear they had a different idea, instead of planning for him they told me they had called ferndale, a special needs school and they had a place for him beginning next year. I had Kanye on the waiting list there knowing at some point he'd need to go but this was a bit of a surprise especially with only 4 weeks left of term. I was upset. Mainly for his teacher aide, she has been with him since he started four years ago, she's stuck by him through his troubles and things she's had to deal with, like illness and her house/ insurance issues. She's been like a second mum to him so I asked her if we can keep in contact and she is happy to.
Ferndale will be good for Kanye, the gap between him and children his age is growing significantly wider. It just seems like it was a last minute decision on their part and now they're rushing a transition over the next few weeks. He's going to be at the base unit in Merivale, seeing as he'll go to and from school in a taxi (something else I've had to get my head around) I wanted him to be somewhere close to home, my major concern is the epilepsy side of it, if he has a big seizure in taxi, or one at school I need to know he's close by.
After this meeting Marley had his first athletics day, he was such a sweetheart, he did so well seeing that he's been at school a month. To end our long day Harper had his 3 month check and his jabs.
As I bathed Harper that night and I looked at his beautiful baby feet, I felt like it would be ok, I was still upset with the school and the situation I was about to be put in but it would be ok.
