Lights on

Christmas mania continues - when I went to get Katie from nursery early afternoon, she was absolutely covered in glitter. Yet they hadnt even begun the afternoon craft that they were going to do. She'd done colouring of angels and they'd practiced hard at their nativity. The winter wonderland grotto has been finished in the entrance too.

I picked her up early with the plan being to go try the temporary skating rink that was being put up in town and seeing the lights being turned on. The rink opening time had been changed by two hours. And it was small, plastic and rubbish. We neither of us found it appealing! So we had a babyccino, bought her some adorable mittens (on strings!!) and then met Granny and Grandad. We went to a lovely deli cafe and she had two more babyccinos. In the shop, she asked for a large candy cane. I said no. She asked for an organic carrot instead. And ate it all.

When we'd finished, the charity Christmas market had opened. We scored fairly well on the tombolas, ran away from Santa, made reindeer food and chose a cute tree decoration. We decided it was time for tea and found a family-friendly pub with available tables (sounds simple requirements - wasnt that simple!) It turned out it was a very convenient choice. We were right by the town market square and sat in a big bay window, up a flight of stairs. Said window looked out over the main town Christmas tree and meant we could see the people and the tree without being either cold or squashed.

Lights switched on, we headed home. We had a fitting for her angel costume (it needs adjusting) before she fell asleep cuddled up in a gorgeous new blanket our lovely friend surprised us with today.
