Callisto, Europa, Jupiter and Ganymede
Not a bad day today.
A short walk this morning, so as not to tire myself and see if I had enough mojo left to do other stuff
The answer was yes :-)
Phone call from gp surgery, to go and pick up another script for my eye on Monday, glad that is sorted now, I go back to the clinic in three weeks time.
A visit from a friend in the afternoon.
And an hour out on the naughty step, star gazing, tempted to get the cat out and try out my t- adaptor with my other camera, but my nemesis will probably be watching and will summon up the wind and thee rain once I've got everything set up and suitably chilled.
Nice to be out pondering and marvelling at it all.
Even Comet Ison may surprise us and put on a show after all, rather unlikely though, but we shall see.
This is a shot of Jupiter and three of the gallilean moons, they are called that after Gallileo who first saw them through a telescope.
Only three on view here Callisto & Europa below Jupiter in this shot and Ganymede above.
Absentee is Io which is just past transit (passing in front of the face of Jupiter)
All four are fascinating worlds in their own right
Io is the most volcanically active body in the solar system
Europa is an icy world which is thought to have oceans under the ice and may harbour life underneath.
Ganymede is the largest moon in the solar system.
Callisto is the third largest moon in the solar system (second being Saturns moon Titan) and is almost as big as the planet Mercury
Hope that you've all had a good day
