First steps

Over the past month or so, this wee bird has been nesting high in the beams of our chook house. Every time we let the chooks out, this wee bird would start churping, probably thinking that each time that door opens, he could make an escape out into the big blue yonder.

Today he took that step. He flew fell down from his nest, and walked out the door. The chooks didn't take any notice of him - they were too busy eating. Once out, he took cover in the long grass. I went and got my camera, took this one photo, and he then took off under the chook house. Probably never to be seen again.

We have had about 51 mls of rain overnight and during the day. Perfect for kick starting the grass and turnips into growing.
