The Holly bears a berry!

A couple of years ago the Holly at the top of the back garden was a mass of berries, I had even noticed the flowers on it that year. With the huge amount of berries on the other trees I hadn't noticed whether or not there were berries on it this year. I think I was expecting not but here they are. I will be cutting some in a couple of weeks.

The other pleasant surprise of the back garden were my two new (this summer) French lavender plants in flower. I know it has been warm today but that seems crazy!

I wouldn't be surprised by these things if I did more gardening in the winter but actually I quite like being surprised and I'm a bit of a fair weather gardener!
