On the road again

After a dismal performance at footy last night (where we lost 10-3 or something similar) I couldn't sleep as I was still full of powerade.

Got up extra early so I could get my lab work done before heading up to the OC for my final interview for sales job. The wife was on site today so babe was neglected. I walked her for a while before I left at lunchtime and then a smooth journey up to Laguna niguel. Met the regional sales boss at Starbucks (everyone is home based so there are no "offices" as such) and got a good grilling. She pushed the fact that they want stability in their team, someone who is in for the long haul and is willing to do the "grunt" work in this entry level position. The major concern about me apart from no sales experience is the fact that once I do get it I will be hot property. They want the person they hire not to bugger off when the next offer comes along.

Afterwards I headed over to irvine to allergan to meet with the rep I interviewed with last week. She is really nice and friendly (if a little hyper) and was originally in this position a year or so ago. So she had a lot of
Insight into the position and the challenges. She told me in confidence that I am one of the 2 (out of 3) that they want to hire but as mentioned the position is below someone with my science experience. They recognize I will be an asset for the company and that they want to fulfill my potential. To do this they are looking at creating a position specifically for me with a life science specialist twist on the role. Which would be great. They will give me the nod (or not) on Friday starting jan 1st.

By the time this was all done it was 4:30pm and heading back south in the rush hour a taste of things to come (would be up in irvine 1-2 days/week). But it only took 1.5 hours. Slow in irvine and in north county but fine elsewhere. Took this snap of the nice sunset whilst in traffic.

Back home to walk a neglected doggy, cool dinner and help the wife unpack the groceries. And collapse on the sofa for some mind numbing Telly.....
