Afternoon tea at Reid's

A very special highlight - afternoon tea at Reids, the marvellous, traditional hotel that has become rightly famous over two hundred or more years. One of the key landmarks of Madeira.

Sitting on the terrace, looking over the marvellous harbour and coastline of the heart of Funchal, is pretty close to heaven.

Sandwiches (crusts cut off of course) with smoked salmon, avocado and tomato - and prawns with the succulence and size of little lobsters.

The scones were rather the weak link - but still super. And a selection of delicious cakes.

Yes, it's not cheap. But it should be on the bucket list.

My friend, framed here, was rather impressed too :-)
