The beholder's eye

Final old rose of the season..

A couple of days ago I came home to find MrU&L had been pruning the roses.
Now any kind of pruning done by Mr U&L usually fills me with dread, as he is a danger to society with a pair of secateurs in his hands. My late , lovely Dad taught me to always prune to the first outward facing bud, and keep the middle of the rose bush open and airy.... Not so Mr U&L he just snips like a mad thing! I always have to do it all again when he has finished He once pruned my prize azalea thinking it was a rose!
In the pile of snipped off clippings still laying on the path was this beautiful final bloom..I thought it was so beautiful I picked it up, brought it inside and placed it in a vase of water. Sadly it must have been snipped quite a while before I came home, and it since has dried up at the edges, and started to go brown in places..but, looking at it this morning I decided it still has remarkable beauty in these dull and dismal days of midwinter.
So I took some macro shots, to capture the colours and the folds and bring it to you as today's blip.
I hope you enjoy it too.
