Screech Owl

Visited the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, FL. This little Screech Owl was in a nesting box staring out at it's world. Many of the Animals housed there are being rehabilitated after injuries inflicted on them either by accident or, sadly...intentionally! A small number of the residents were raised as pets and when they became too large or aggressive were surrendered to the Sanctuary.

Some of the animals are able to be released to the wild. Some must live out their lives in the Sanctuary.
The Bush Wildlife Sanctuary participates in many educational out reach programs. Visiting them was a bittersweet experience!
