crazy weather

I had a warning via instagram that the weather was very stormy at Oxford, but here in London the sun was shining, so off I went along the Regent canal towards islington. Helped a solo navigator through the first lock. Carried on up to Broadway, where to my glee I found a jellied eel shop, and dodged the first squall in a coffee shop. Should have left it at that, bu walked on, ans the sky became awfully black. The second storm came with some wild wind gusts which were seriously alarming, pigeons flying sideways and rubbish bins taking to the streets - and torrents of rain. Went home defeated.

There is plenty of news on tv about the west coast of the UK, but I wish some one would tell us about the west coast of Ireland, which looks to be even more badly situated for these storms. It is absolutely unreal, and I am so tired of hearing "what global warming", especially with the akademic shokalskiya stuck in Antarctic ice. Actually all this disturbance fits the predictions. The storms seem to be surpassing defences, so doesn't that suggest an increase? Arguments here now are about sufficient flood defence/ preparations. How about a big step back for a bigger picture? More heavy rain tonight. Good luck to everyone stuck out there.
