Epiphany
Today is the first Sunday of Epiphany and I read 'The coming of the Magi' at church this morning as this is the time we associate with the three kings part of the Christmas story.
In reality it was probably at least two years after the birth of Christ when the kings made their appearance but in terms of our annual celebrations it is the time we think of as concluding the Christmas period and story. In some countries, France for example this is time of celebration (Festival of the kings or Fetes des Rois) on the 6th January, but here it is when we think of taking down the decorations and Christmas is over for another year.
For us another sign is our son heading back to work and his army life in Northern Scotland.
This lovely sky was seen this morning though I am told ( by Freespiral) that this type of sky is a foreboding of storms to come. As Alex has set off the skies are grey and the rain is coming again, I hope she isn't right!
That thing about things coming in threes is not true, the element has just gone in the oven! That's at least 4 things!
