Bye Bye christmas
4years 77days.
First news of the day - after swimming over 100m in the learner pool, Katie today swam her first full two lengths in the big pool. Shallow end (which she still cant reach the bottom of) to deep and back. No floats, no help. She was so proud of herself. I was super proud of her - she's had a bit of uncertainty about the big pool, and was wobbly when I took her in, but something clicked, and off she went. She did two half lengths, then that was it, confidence found. We were in the pool(s) an hour and a half and I almost had to drag her away!
She went to nursery just in time for phonics then lunch. They said she's played out Christmas all afternoon. Christmas dinner, the nativity, being Santa. When I arrived, her and her three closest friends were the ones left and looked so happy together - which is sad as I learnt today her absolute best friend is leaving in a month.
We headed home and began the process of de-Christmassing. As Jumpingbean said yestserday, its the saddest "ordinary" event of each year. I really dont like taking the tree down. I did however have a happy time enjoying its lights, with the blinds partially closed, as I edited some work this afternoon. It is now all packed ready for next year. I'm about to rearrange the room so I dont have to stare at the big empty space where once stood our gorgeous big tree!
After the tree, we spent time researching baby animals. I learnt some I didn't know! We are going to do a craft activity based on this to go alongside it. I love when we study together and when she leads us to discover.
