"The Blaze Of Summer Heat"...

...Yes, it's still hot and we've lost a few of our lovely flowers, but with a bit of a trim - we'll see their beauty once again in a few week's time..

... The trees appear to be standing breathless against the summer heat..but they'll be fine too, they grow in this heat...

...And in the meantime - here is part of our back garden having a drink, we have to water at least once a day during this weather ..

...My sister tells me that it's hotter where she lives down in the south of the state, than here, but she's in a City and that would be stifling, especially for the poor tennis players yesterday - we don't often watch the Australian Open but we felt so sorry for them when we heard about them playing in the city in all the heat..

...Lots of bushfires around, but not in these parts- some in this state and some in other states and a lot apparently began with lightning strikes, some are in or around state forests..

...Yes, it's hot but we remember years ago such heat, John, my sister and I where the temps in the outback- could reach 122-123deg.F. and we had no airconditioning at all, just the open windows, and the kids played inside in a bathtub with some water in it in what we called a 'breezeway" - a covered area with concrete floors which joined the bathroom to the house..the laundry, toilet and rainwater tank were 'out the back' ...

...And when the night came, it cooled the earth and us down and we prepared for the next day of heat..yes, we had it hot in those days too, but we made do, like we must..and so, the temperatures of the moment -are much the same as they were nearly 60 years ago..
