Year of the Horse

Today's the Day ................... to celebrate the New Year

The longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar - the Chinese new year which for this year will be 4712 - begins on January 31st. The festivities will continue until 15th February when the moon will be at its brightest.

As part of the celebrations, people wear red clothes, decorate with poems on red paper, and give children lucky money in red envelopes. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck. You can see signs all over Hong Kong that preparations are well in hand. There's lots of red about already.

The new year will be the Year of the Horse and it is said that those born in horse years will be cheerful, skilful with money, perceptive, witty, talented and good with their hands.

All sounds good to me ..................
