Diary of an Edinburgher

Woody and Wilbur have fun

The dizzy spells continue, but are really only when sitting up in bed, however slowly I go, and if I turn my head in bed, say, to look at the clock. When I’m up and about it’s just the light-headedness, as long as I move slowly. At least I can do things for myself - getting dressed etc. It must be really debilitating to have a severe attack of this.

Went out for a wander as it was a lovely sunny day. A slow, careful wander. Actually, I must have looked a bit suspicious - walking slowly, eyes swivelling here and there (head not moving) stopping every so often to peer at buds and berries in people’s gardens.

There was a lovely low light with huge long shadows in the Meadows. I spied a couple of dogs away over on the putting green. I walked towards them. Slowly.

... Please don’t suddenly depart as I get near ...

The two owners were standing talking. The dogs were getting to know each other - Woody the cockapoo, and Wilbur the springer spaniel. They were having great fun. I think the two owners were getting to know each other too. He was asking her if she came here every day, and they swapped names (human names, not dog names, that had already been done, I suspect).

Anyway, I was there for ages, listening in to the conversation, watching these two charge around, and wrestle each other for the one ball. The flip-out screen is a godsend, but I did get a teensy bit woozy bending up and down. Slowly.

Wandered back and did a few wee chores before retiring to the sofa for the afternoon with my faux-leopardskin throw, a ham and cheese sammy and a coffee.

And Netflix.
