It's all go

I woke in the night to a terrible noise in the roof. First I thought it was the HRV home ventilation system, but when I got out to the dining room, I realised it was water overflowing from the hot water cylinder onto the roof outside. Not knowing what else to do, I woke up Farmerboy, who went outside and turned all the water off that was coming into the house. This stopped the overflow, but was, of course only a temporary measure. We got back to bed just after 2am. We rang the plumber at 8am, and they arrived from Nelson at 12.30pm. All fixed now - and so much better having water on in the house again.

The painters turned up early this morning, and started preparing the house for its first coat of paint. It rained off and on during the day, so the only bit they got painted was that under cover. With a gang of 5 painters, the house will be finished in no time - that's of course if it is fine for the rest of the week.

This photo is of how the painters keep their brushes clean and moist until they are next used. Rather a fantastic invention I thought'
