You can hide but you can't outsmart that Monday feeling.

J made what we think is the right decision, to go with the existing commitment, but it has made him sad. Very, very sad. The walk to school was heart-breaking but I focused on sticking plaster metaphors in my head and we went for the just not talking about it option. He's still sad now but less so and in a couple of days it will hopefully have passed. I am proud of him for making the decision himself and for the decision he made but it's tough to watch. I sort of assumed they just picked up morals along the way, not that you had to actively manage these moments.

Rest of the day has been pretty good. Distracted myself from worrying about the work thing accomplishing lots of little tasks this morning. Work thing went well which was a huge relief. Needed some space and fresh air so went for a run which was surprisingly and delightfully enjoyable.
