Every little didn't help this time.
A funny thing happened to me on the road at Otterswick. I was heading toward Lady Village and noticed a car coming down the hill toward me. Being a considerate driver, I pulled over to the side of the narrow road to allow them to pass. At the last moment, disaster, a front wheel dropped into a rain ditch. We exchanged courteous waves. Inwardly, though, I was cussing blue murder. I sat trying to call Kelly to let her know that I'd left the road, but to no avail. I pride myself on my ability to drive in extreme conditions. This time, try as I might, 'Rodgers' was never getting out of there without help. When that help arrived it shattered my confidence as I had to admit that I'd screwed up. Among the tactics used, during a long ten minutes or so, was wedging a Tesco 'bag-for-life' underneath the tyre that had been ploughing up the verge. I did stop at the shop on the way home, but the bag was in no fit state for the purpose for which it had been created. Nor, probably, will it ever be again.
