First sewing

Ballet this morning - she skipped off very happily and didnt bat an eye lid. When I went for her, she had got the exam reports for her freestyle grade 1 (which she got highly commended for) and had really lovely comments on it. Very proud of her!! We rushed quickly to get the train that leaves very soon after ballet. When we got back, we went into town. Mummy is pattern testing a fabulous new dress this week, so we went to choose the things for that. While we were chose some things for Katie to do a little sewing project too and the start of her own little sewing bag for her little things.

We arrived home and were just getting sorted when Granny and Grandad came. This was a cause of great excitement. More so than normal. Because they brought Bert, Ernie and BabyGrey with them! We havent seen them since Christmas and now they're home!! We did a little work on their hutch for them before they went back in, in a different corner of the garden to keep them out of the wind and most of the rain.

A very exciting moment came as we were finishing up with the rabbits- mummy's phone went. It was a text and photo I've waited months for. My best friend gave birth to her third child. My littlest godson. He's beautiful. We are both seriously excited.

Granny and Grandad stayed for a cup of tea and cake. As soon as they'd gone, Katie wanted to start on the sewing. We were doing this for well over an hour. She did the "freestyle" stitches across the centre, and sewed on some beads. I stitched her name on and then she sewed a circle of stitches round the edge, following the hoop. She's quite chuffed as by total chance we had a frame exactly the right size to put it in so it's proudly on display.

I let her choose a film to watch together after tea, so it was the Muppets. She came up to me at one point with a look of disgust. "Look, the pictures are singing. We don't have pictures that sing. We should have them". She then showed me some of her ballet from today and how you can dance if you're a girl in a ballet dress and how thats different to how you'd dance if you're a girl in a onesie (which she was) and then how thats different to how you'd dance if you were a dog....
