Junk Monkey

A rather fab day today. Katie had a lie-in (by her standard) until just after 7.30. She awoke to photos of two of my gorgeous godchildren meeting my beautiful new godson, Myles Ernest born yesterday at 6.04pm (WA time). We have been a bit bubbly and excitable since finding out yesterday mid afternoon! Once up, we started on a couple of crafty projects. I'd managed to put a hole in one of her ballet leotards a few weeks ago and today we turned it into a dress up twirly skirt, which she put on over her onesie. However, she saw the remnants and decided they should not be discarded so we made a little crop top and ballet pants- and they of course required testing. She spent a bit more time dressing up and prancing before her bath. She was dressed and sorted just in time for today's photosession, during which she did yet more dressing up!

The session wasnt a long one, so we were soon back to the playing and creating. We made some birthday cards for her friends and had lunch together. We then started on a couple of skirts. Originally, they were to be for her friends' party but we decided time was against us.

Our taxi arrived midafternoon to take us to the party. Livvie and Eva are lovely friends of hers from her first nursery and it was their joint 4th birthday party today. A couple of other old nursery friends were there, and her very first keyworker! She had put together her own outfit today - her purple top and tights, along with her Junk Monkies playsuit, which has Red Riding Hood on it, so of course she went to the party with that and her Red Riding Hood cape, and her little basket complete with food for Grandma. She had fun on the soft play but refused to go on the bouncy castle. She wont go on them when other children are on them. She compromised and went on the slope for getting on/off. She won musical bumps and enjoyed the party tea. A nice "do" all round!

We got a train then taxi home again & were soon stuck back in to finishing the two skirts we'd started. Katie decided one of them would be for her (it was made from her favourite fabric after all) and the other would be for Bobbobs. She watched the Muppets in Manhattan as our Sunday movie before going upstairs. I was in the bathroom when she came in to me and said "Mummy, I can't find God or pray. I've looked everywhere". Turns out she couldnt find her bible stories or little prayer book that we read after her bedtime stories, but she made me chuckle with her description!
