Shades of Blues
A new cycling/walking trail has been developed between Nelson through to Kaiteriteri. I believe it is part of a planned extensive network of tracks throughout New Zealand. This local one is the Nelson Tasman Good Taste Trail. It is a wonderful initiative and much work has gone into the trail’s development.
The Suzuki 4x4 was due for a Warrant of Fitness today. I had booked the vehicle in for that at a garage near the Riwaka village. It is a garage that has done work on a number of our vehicles over many years. In fact Roger, one of the mechanics said to me “Is this Keith’s car?” Amazing…to be so famous. We left the vehicle there early this morning and walked from the garage along the road and joined up on the new trail. The first section we walked along goes through apple and kiwifruit orchards. The track then follows the Riwaka Kaiteriteri road right alongside an estuary. Then we crossed the road and joined one of the many tracks in the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park. It is the Easy Rider track which is now part of the new Nelson Tasman Good Taste Trail. This was a lovely part of our walk, winding through the trees and with some nice views back to the estuary. We needed to be aware of mountain bikers sharing the trail. We had covered almost 8 kilometers by the time we got back to the caravan.
Today’s image shows a view from an elevated section of newly built track at the start of the mountain bike park. A mountain biker can be seen in the bottom left hand corner of the image.
