The Ant And The Epiphyllum Hookeri

Noticed my night flowering Epiphyllum Hookeri had two open blooms early this morning and rushed to get the camera. Toto thought it was some kind of new game and promptly ate, er chewed one of them up when I got up close to it! ;(

The other one was higher up and he couldnt reach it so I managed to get a few shots. Wasnt until later as I looked at them on the big screen did I notice the ants having a fine time in there so I thought I would crop it down and focus on them.

Have a look in large, they are stunning flowers that only come out once a year and literally only last one night! Here is a short time lapse video of one of the flowers opening (not mine) if you have two minutes to spare :)
