Unloading the catch

After work my husband brought me to his favorite wharf. He sometimes goes here to watch the seals. This is the back of the Portland Fish Exchange. The boats come up to the back of the building and they unload their catch. These guys were loading stuff in purple bags then into blue buckets that were hoisted up to the exchange.
We watched and I concluded they were unloading coconuts. That's what they looked like. Donal thought it was seaweed. It was about 23 degrees Fahrenheit (-5 for the Celsius crowd).we were having a heat wave that was why I figured coconuts.
Seriously we have no idea what they were unloading but no one chased us out of there so I figure it was legal.
There are lots of fishing boats at this spot. This is a rust gold mine!!!!so if I enter a challenge I will go here.
Portland has a long fishing history.

The link is for a song by one of my favorite groups. When I was in my 20s we followed them around. Yup I was a groupie. To a band that played sea chanties. Oh yeah this sophistication didn't come overnight people.
Things I learned:
Amaretto on the rocks is not as cool as it is cracked up to be when you have had about 5 and weigh about 95 lbs (6.78 stone or....43. In kg)
nothing is worse than drinking too much Jameson
Nothing is worse than drinking too much sambucca or peppermint schnapps or 5 amarettos on the rocks.

I am so glad my wild days are behind me and my crazy days are ahead.
Ahhhh youth is wasted on the young.

Enjoy Schooner Fare. I have lots of nice memories of this band.
