Carlton Ware Ceramics 1

Another really unpleasant day weatherwise with more rain and strong winds. Although it was a day off due to it being an INSET Day in school, there wasn't any scope for taking pictures of anything outside.

As well as the Crested China, I am also interested in other types of ceramics. Carlton Ware produced some superb designs featuring leaves and flowers in their respective shapes. They were made to an Australian Design and hand painted. This beautiful pin dish is my favourite item that I have. It was given to me as a present by my good friend The Beholder's Eye, and is a superb example of it's type, although it is comparatively plain to many of the designs produced. The crisp perfect shape and the quality of the leaves and buds on the handle make it stand out. The incised leaf design within the otherwise plain glaze is the only one I have seen with this feature as many have the full effect of a leaf with all the veins. I will Blip another piece to show this in the future. Let's hope for all that this really is the last of this awful weather!
