Going back home..

..the nice thing about going shopping (drinks for the ceilidh in the Village Hall on Friday) is that you get to see this sign on the way back! I did actually take it on the way down, knowing it would be dark when we returned.

Ever since I was a child, and had one of those wooden "County" jigsaws, I've always been attracted to three counties. Westmorland always conjoured up images of rugged countryside, Cumberland was the same, but Sutherland was always special. Mountains and valleys, lochs and beaches, remote and empty. We've been living here for five years now, and I still get a tingle every time I see this sign. And we're still 35 miles from home..

Grey and damp today, a good day for shopping. My favourite charity shop had some good CD's again. Julie Fowlis (Scottish Gaelic), Rory McLeod and Liadan (Traditional Irish and Gaelic), and Supertramp - Crime of the century.. Varied and diverse..
