Bridge over troubled water

You can see the Kessock Bridge here crossing the Beauly Firth connecting the city of Inverness with North Kessock carrying the A9 between the two. An essential gateway to the North.
Before 1982 a ferry was in operation between South and North Kessock. 120 years ago on 23rd February 1894. 6 lives were lost in total, 3 coastguardsmen and three ferryman in a bad gale as the ferry tried to cross the firth. Today a memorial service was held at the old ferry slipway in South Kessock. it is hoped that enough money with eventually be raised to erect a permanent memorial. I was hoping to be able to see the new lifeboat that was launched at 1.30 pm today but I could nt see it.
Today we are still lucky enough to have a lifeboat station on the firth and also one in Invergordon providing a very valuable service and all voluntary.
