B.A.C.K. to Basics

Snowy Pup

Thankfully the winds have died down and the temps, though still in the low-twenties, feel comfortable. We decided to introduce Mace to our property by walking him down into the field.

He was funny in the snow... most of the time, he was light enough to walk along the top of the crusted snow, but every now and then, he would "fall" into my boot tracks and would discover a cave of wonders. Snow, glorious snow! He would bury his face in the cold powder and return to the surface a white washed pup. Over and over again this pattern emerged, and I soon realized - this may be his first encounter with snow. I know that Indiana (where he was born) currently is enduring a horrible winter of cold/snow, but I doubt that he was ever out in the elements.

I wonder what he'll do in an actual snow storm, will he chase the falling flakes? Will he roll around and get all snowy? Will he sit and watch, not sure how to handle the situation?
