Washing Ghats
Morning..
A later rise...decided to have coffee, so walked south to the macchiato place...passed the burning ghat, first sight of the day, a charred head amidst the flames; it's hard not to look, but I don't understand the attraction of sitting around and watching, and there are always transfixed onlookers....
Then it got hot...thought would wander down to the ghats with my guitar...hot...came back up to the guest house to see a guy with a guitar sitting there...I smiled, asked the obvious question and we sat down for a bit of a jam. A.J. from south Korea...heat calming we went to sit by the ghat, Milo appeared, the jam continued, three people, two guitars...cameras were pointed, people sat down, moved on, shouts from the boats on the Ganges trip, more cameras and the a video camera accompanied by a documentary crew...all stranger and stranger...and then the sunsetting aj playing something gorgeous as I looked upstream to see the curve of Varanasi drifting off into the mist...a most wondrous moment...
Later some Indian classical music
And warm, jam filled, gulab jamun from a sweet stall in the market...not a bad day, all considered
