Cake tasting
A spot of work this morning shooting off a few emails then we went up to Mira Mesa to the edelweiss bakery for our wedding cake tastings.
I did something quite bad on the way there. There are a lot of tramps and beggars at intersections all over SD and I normally don't give them anything. But this one guy who had his wheelchair parked in the middle of the street and was standing with his leg in a cast made me think twice. We were stopped at the lights and I was sorting out our change to give to him. He saw this and started hobbling over but before I could get it sorted and handed out to him the lights changed and not wanting to hold the cars up behind I drove off. I felt so awful and the wife made me feel even worse. We even went back afterwards to see if he was still there but he was gone :-(
Cake tasting was fun. The phillipino guy organizing it was cool. We tasted 9 different cakes. We went for the top layer being pound cake with Bavarian cream. Middle layer sponge cake with mange and passion fruit mousse and bottom layer white chocolate mousse with raspberry. No milk or dark chocolate as I can't stand it! That was my part of the deal done - just the design to thrash out now and I'll leave that up to the wife - $500 for this cake!!!!
We then went up to the Sheraton in Carlsbad to check it out as it will prob be our wedding night location. Up above the Carlsbad near palomar airport it was nice and fancy and new. We had a nice lunch there. Hopefully we can get the room free with our hotel points.
Came home and picked up the baby. We then went down to university San Diego to watch the softball going on there. The wife's old college friend is a coach there so we have gone a few times. A real nice campus - Christian private college - ridiculous tuition fees. A warm evening and a beautiful sun set. Made me envious of all the college kids training in this setting in the various sports.....
