at home with an Ivysaurus

Windy rainbow

So extremely windy today that the spray of the loch made a rainbow!

Ivy did well at the cheilidh last night, she slept in a room in the back and we took the baby monitor- got a dance in whilst the English teacher and his wife watched the monitor and indeed sleeping ivy acquired a room of teenage girls who let us know when she woke up (which wasn't till after 10)

This morning we went down the allotment and pulled weeds out of bed with roots so long they reached the bed next door. It was like digging up a corpse! In the polytunnel we tried to work out what was mustard weeds and what was our seedlings.

Ivy has been astonishing today- she can now decide what she wants to do. After her morning nap she reached out her arms for me so Sat on my knee and read a book until she decided no more and pushed herself off and crawled towards another book. :) she was sitting playing with the kitchen measuring cups when she decided she wanted a nearby piece of paper, she got herself to crawling, went to get it and then got back to sitting to play with it.

However by far the most impressive thing she's learned today is that Euan likes it when she says 'dada' at him. She was even shouting it at the door he'd just gone out of. He is very pleased!

My favorite adorable ivy moment was when she and I sat at the piano and after she'd bashed some keys, when I played her a tune she very deliberately and gently laid her hands ontop of mine- and when I sang along, she twisted herself round to smile up at me.

Unfortunately the deeper her personality gets the harder she is to understand. For example today I defrosted the freezer so sat ivy in her chair and have her some ' freezer snow' to play with. After a while she was crying but still grabbing at the snow- we couldn't work out if she was upset because she couldn't pick it up or because her fingers were cold. When she's eating she's determined to have her sippy cup, but is frustrated when she gets it even if you help her drink from it. Not a clue what she thinks the cup can do if only she could work out how.
