Ahead Of The Game This Time
In case anyone was wondering what these are, the label says they are hot cross buns.
Not your British hot cross bun though, with the dough cross on top. These have a cross made out of soft piped on frosting (icing), which begs the question, "How on earth do you toast them?".
FYI I scraped off the frosting off and tossed it in the bin, then toasted the bun. It tasted really, well, meh. No texture, no currants, 2 pieces of peel and a ton of cinnamon. Certainly not worth the calories.
I think I may have a go at making my own. Anyone have a good recipe?
