Happiness

"Happiness may have different meanings for different people. But we can all agree that it means working to end conflict, poverty and other unfortunate conditions in which so many of our fellow human beings live."

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
Message for the International Day of Happiness, 20 March 2014

Today is the International Day of Happiness. You can read the Secretary General's full message here.

I'm having an evening sat watching season 3 of Castle, and watching my boy looking out of the window. I'm about to make a haddock and chorizo risotto for my tea. It's just how I wanted to spend my night. It's happiness.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm a very lucky person. I have everything I need. I have shelter, food and security. I am safe, healthy and I am loved. Lots of people across the world don't have that. So let's take a moment to think about people that don't have the basic human rights that we take for granted. And let's work to change that, in whatever way we can.
