Copwas and mimins

Kind of knew Audrey wouldn't enjoy nursery today and turns out I was right. They called (first time ever) at 2.30pm to say she was upset - then asked if I might be able to collect her. It is days like these that I am so grateful I work from home.

Had had a lovely morning as it happens, complete with an impromptu meet up with Mum and Dad (and Angus in body if not spirit on his laptop) for lunch at All Star.

The only problem was that I was only half way through a new business PR proposal when the nursery called. It needs to be in on Monday afternoon - but as my Mum pointed out, I always work better under pressure!

As it happened, Audrey was fine when I picked her up. I think the nursery were a bit embarrassed as she literally perked up the minute I entered the room.

Took her on a lovely long walk through the nature reserve. We played a new - yet I suspect about to become regular - game of dropping sticks in the river and watching them float away, "Bye bye stick" etc. etc.

Whilst we were in there, we were treated to an police helicopter circling the M60. I've always been obsessed with helicopters and after Audrey's reaction to the "copwa" I think she might be too.

Walked back up Stockton Road as I had remembered that there was a house on there with a front garden that included a giant plastic penguin and duck (only in Chorlton!!) Audrey loved it and called the penguin a "mimin".

Then we spent a lovely few hours upstairs playing Armchair Olympics (Audrey climbing on and off our bedroom chair, a new favourite) whilst I tried to do a bit of work on my laptop.

The funny thing is that before I picked Audrey up, I hadn't come up with any exciting ideas for my proposal. But in the last few hours on our walk and just messing about, playing with her; loads have popped into my head!

And it might just turn out to be a better proposal for it....
