at home with an Ivysaurus

My little green eyed monster

Ivy's eyes are currently green. They go a very bright green outside in the sunlight, under artificial light they're not so vivid but still have a distinct green edge. I'm not sure if they'll stay green but I am certain they will always be dark.

Another night of Ivy sleeping through the night in her own bed. She came into our bed at about 10.30pm after she wouldn't settle in her own bed. Next thing I knew it was 7.20am and Euan was next door singing her good morning song to a cooing Ivy. I don't remember the bit when she left our bed and went next door- Euan assures me I handed him Ivy and told him to take her away. Goodness knows when.

Ivy saw so much of her Daddy today it was almost like a weekend. The Ross-shire midwives were having a fundraising coffee morning in the school where they invited anyone who'd had a baby in the past 6 years. Euan came down at his interval. By the time she and I had finished hanging out with other babies it was lunch time so we waited for Euan and went to the tea store for lunch.

In the afternoon, Lesley my former probation mentor came round to help me prepare for Monday's interview. Ivy helped with prep by making little noises, until she eventually fell asleep in my arms. I like when she goes down for naps in her cot, but equally it is lovely when she falls asleep with her head on my shoulder.

I invented a new tasty treat tonight: macarownie. A cross between a macaron (posh french biscuit not the potato based bar) and a gooey chocolate brownie. It was entirly accidental, caused by not particularly weighing out ingredients. I think it'll catch on as a thing though. Afterll, the cro-nut is a thing, so why not the macarownie.

Tomorrow is going to be a very long day. We're off to inverness for a mass public breastfeed, and are going to take advantage of being in the big city to go shopping for an interview outfit for me, longer tights for Ivy and blue plumbing pipe for the cabbages.
