Local heroes

In 1880, the St Anne's Lifeboat put to sea to assist a German barque, the "Mexico". Great bravery and valour were shown but lives were lost.

The local heroes are commemorated in this dramatic statue close to the Pier.

The Bridge weekend has been great fun. The Northern clientele aren't anywhere near as welcoming as the people we met near Uxbridge. This surprised me. My wonderful Mum was from Walkden (Greater Manchester as it is these days) and the people I knew from that area were always charming, warm and hospitable. I hope times aren't changing.

Enjoy your Sunday
