Hell of a bus journey!
So were leaving 4000 Islands today and heading towards Phnom Phen. We could have easily stayed here for another 2 days but were getting worried about time and so we will move on.
The first leg of the journey was a lift on the back of a motorbike down to the "port" to catch our boat to the mainland. Once there we waited around till a man scammed everyone's passport off them. All these idiots just handed them over without asking questions or even how much it should really be. I'm getting frustrated with the stupidity of people of all ages.
Anyway we set off in the bus made for 50 people with about 70 in it!! We reached the border and had to get ourselves stamped out the country and then get a visa to enter. This process took less than 10 mins and we were the first through the border checks. Once through people were questioning us and asking if it was hard? I was just thinking it couldn't be any easier and now we're sitting here waiting on all your stupid passports. We waited for about 2 hours until he came back with about 60 passports.
The next part of the journey was really bad and involved loads of stops and the dreaded flat tyre. We were meant to arrive at 1900 but didn't arrive to the hostel till 0205 which is an absolute joke. The whole journey was hell and involved so many scams and annoyances that it's giving me a bad perception of Laos and Cambodia.
Anyway off to sleep in our 3 man room as we met a random guy on the bus who we shared a room with. Exhausted.
