Resilience

Wherever you go in Christchurch you hear about the earthquakes and their aftermath

I have spent time today at the beautiful new Clearview Primary School whose staff are redefining teaching as part of the city's recovery.

I visited the inspirational Mayor of the city, Lianne Dalziel ,and heard about her determination to facilitate and take forward the community reconstruction of a re-imagined place .

And I have discussed the resilience of the area and the lessons of that resilience for the world with the senior management team of the University of Canterbury ( whilst talking academic collaboration and land issues with its Chancellor, Dr John Wood)

But the eye and the mind are always drawn back to the cathedral at the city's heart , what that says about what happened here and about how that can be recovered from , individually and collectively.
